Title: The Old Man and the Sea
Author: Ernest Hemingway
Pages: 127
Rating: 4/5

Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman, has gone 85 days without a catch. The Old Man and the Sea tells of his attempt to catch the one big fish that would break his dry spell.

The Old Man and the Sea is a nice story and depending on how fast you read, you could easily finish it in an hour or two. This was the first book by Hemingway that I’ve read and it was a nice little introduction to his work. His prose is great, and there were a lot of parts where I was really moved by how beautiful the writing was. There’s a great lesson to be learned from this – if you try hard enough, you’ll attain your goals, and even if no one can see the end result, it’s still worth it.

The story is so short, I don’t really want to give anything away, and I can’t say much without spoiling it. But if you’re a fan of classics and quick reads, give this a try.
